Welcome to the home of Configurizer. Configurizer is a powerful, flexible, and easy-to-understand configurator that was built primarily for the generation of custom product information based upon definable rules and external input. It could be used, for example, in a bill of materials generator, a quoting/estimating tool, an order-entry front end, or almost any application that dynamically generates data. What makes Configurizer such a powerful and flexible product configurator? First of all, Configurizer allows you to define very complex rules while providing clear organization of your data.
Secondly, Configurizer uses familiar, robust technology for creating, storing, and interpreting the data rules you define, and it provides output in an extremely versatile format.
Finally, Configurizer allows you to add product configurator capabilities to your own applications. Key features: - Use VBScript throughout item definitions.
- Read data from numerous sources: ASCII (including XML and delimited formats), SQL Server, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Oracle, and many more. This data can then be accessed from anywhere within an items definition.
- Generate output as ADO Recordsets (including hierarchical recordsets), XML (file or stream), delimited ASCII, or your own custom format by navigating the native hierarchy of output objects.
- Build the runtime engine into any COM-enabled application: VB.NET, C#, Visual Basic, C++, ASP, Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, or Word), VBScript, etc.
- Validate inputs via min/max range, list of values, or custom code.
- Create custom, reusable functions.
- Define reusable parts and sub-assemblies.
- Use conditions throughout product definitions to control when parts, attributes, inputs, and validation methods exist and when value assignments/calculations are performed.
- Store product definitions in one or many SQL Server databases.
- Assign categories to items and parts within each database.
- Release product definitions as XML files which the runtime engine can access on a local machine, over a LAN, or on a web site.
- Test product definitions and explore their output before releasing them.
Build your own configuration-based tools. You can create custom tools for your data or extend the capabilities of the tools you already have using Configurizer. Construct a product configurator or sales configurator. Add intelligence to a Word document, spreadsheet, web form, network logon script, etc. Wherever you have the need to gather and validate input (especially where many input options are available), process it, and produce a descriptive result it is probably a good place for Configurizer. What do I have to do to use Configurizer? Configurizer is comprised of two main pieces of software: 1) the Item Manager which provides the means of maintaining and releasing the rules about your products' configurations, and 2) the Runtime Engine, an ActiveX DLL component which generates the output. The former can be installed and run. The latter must be built into a COM enabled application, such as a Visual Studio project or Microsoft Office application. Examples of how to use the Runtime Engine are included as well as a merge module for including it in your own software's installer. Both pieces of software were designed to run on Windows 2000 or XP.Try it for FREE! Click here to download Configurizer (version 1.1.0.4).
Coming Soon Version 2.0
The new version will include:
- More flexibility for passing data to the Runtime Engine from outside sources.
- Test sets of input data (very useful for testing the behavior of item configurations before releasing them).
- Much better performance when working with databases that contain many items/parts.
